Job Summary

The Book of Job is a book of the Christian Old Testament that tells a story about Job, who in Jewish tradition is the son of Uz, who was the son of Nahor, the brother of Abraham. These stories focus on Job’s trials at the hands of God and how he deals with them.

In this book, Job has many theological discussions with friends about the nature of his suffering, his challenge to God, and finally a response from God. Within the Book of Job there is poem set in a prose frame and has been called \"the most profound literary work of the entire Old Testament.\"
