Judges

Judges Summary

The Book of Judges is the seventh book of the Christian Old Testament. The title of this book actually describes the content of the book itself. The Book of Judges tells Christians about the Biblical judges who helped rule and guide the ancient Israelites.

The judges were divinely inspired prophets whose direct knowledge of Yahweh allows them to act as decision-makers for the Israelites. As the decision-makers, the judges acted as military leaders that delivered the people from the oppression of foreign rulers. They also instructed the Israelites of what proper behavior was required of them by God.
