10 Bible Verses That Will Make Your Day
May 15, 2015

Here are what I believe to be 10 Bible verses that will make your day better. At least they do for me.
Psalm 118:24 “This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Every day you wake up you should rejoice that God’s given you a brand new day. Yesterday’s failures and mistakes are history. Today is a new day with new potential and so why not rejoice and be glad in it? This is the day that the Lord has made and He’s made it for you to enjoy and we should be thankful for every single day that God has given us for we don’t know what tomorrow may bring or if it’ll even come.
Zephaniah 3:17 “The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”
We’ve already read how we should rejoice and be glad in the day that the Lord has made but have you ever thought of the fact that God rejoices too? Yes, He does! God rejoices over you and over me with gladness. When life gets busy today and gets very hectic or chaotic, “He will quite you by His love” and believe it or not, “He will exult over you with loud singing.” Can you even imagine what the voice of God sounds like? Now try to imagine His singing over you with “loud singing.” That’s got to be louder than we can even imagine and also I love where this verse says “The LORD your God is in your midst.” Think about that today; He is in your midst, He rejoices over you with gladness, He will quite you with His love, He exults over you with loud singing and if that weren’t enough (and it should be), He is the Mighty One Who will save us, or if you are a child of God, He already has!
Isaiah 62:5 “As a young man marries a young woman, so will your Builder marry you; as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.”
You know the Scriptures in the New Testament, particularly in the Book of Revelation, where Jesus is spoken of as the Bridegroom and the church is His Bride, but here is this same language in the Old Testament. It is symbolized as similar to a young man marrying a young woman because Isaiah 62:5 says “so” or in a similar fashion, our “Builder” will marry us. Since we are the bride, He is the Bridegroom. Notice that the word “Builder” is capitalized, meaning it’s a proper noun and a name of God. In the same way that a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so too “will your God rejoice over you.” Just contemplate that for a while and you’ll see what God thinks of you and just as in this verse and in Zephaniah 3:17, He will rejoice over us…so why not rejoice in this wonderful knowledge? So far, the first three verses I have selected all have the word “rejoice” in them. See a pattern? If we rejoice, I believe it will make our day…and make it even better!
Psalm 103:13-14 “As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.”
Whether you are a parent or not, all of us have had parents and in this figurative language, God describes Himself as a Father that shows compassion to His children. The word “compassion” means “with passion” or a deep, moving love and affection. The Lord shows compassion to all who fear Him and He knows how we’re made; we’re only dust and our frame is fragile. If a human father knows how tender and fragile his own children are, how much more so does our Creator Father know this?
Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Even though this is God speaking to His own people Israel, we can see the application to us, His own children. God never wants us to fear, never wants us to be dismayed. Why? Because He is our God and He Himself will strengthen us and help us. He does this by upholding or holding us up in the strength of His right hand. His right hand is a picture of His dominant hand…where His sovereignty prevails. If God is upholding us, why should we fear or be dismayed?
Psalm 55:22 “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.”
If you have ever been fishing, you know what casting your reel is. In this same image, we can cast every single burden we have onto the Lord because He can take it. We cannot. To cast something means to release it…to let it go. He is the One Who will sustain us and never will He permit the righteous to be moved. Who are the righteous? It is every one who has placed their trust in Christ and has His righteousness imputed towards them (2 Cor 5:21).
First Peter 5:6-7 “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
Once again we see the image of casting our burdens, and in this case, casting our anxieties upon Him, however, there is a condition to this; we must first humble ourselves under His mighty hand (5:6). Until we first humble ourselves, we’ll never cast our anxieties on Him. We’ll have too much pride to let our anxieties go and this pride assures God’s resistance against us (James 4:6). We must humble ourselves or He might have to do it for us and that’s a lot more painful.
Nahum 1:7 “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.”
Sin is like a stronghold. Sins like pornography, alcohol, or drugs so it takes a greater stronghold to uproot our own strongholds and that is God. Whoever takes refuges in this stronghold can receive God’s power in the day of trouble and you don’t need me to tell you that we all have these days.
Isaiah 26:3 “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”
This is the third time that I’ve referenced the Book of Isaiah and in this case we can see that God causes something great to happen; He keeps us in perfect peace. This peace is not like the peace that the world offers which is certainly less than perfect. Whoever keeps their mind stayed (or fixed) on God will have this perfect peace and be kept in this state. Why? It’s because they trust in Him and not in themselves.
Psalm 97:11-12 “Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart. Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name!”
Like a farmer sows seed that produces a crop, light is sown for the righteous, which are the children of God. There is true joy for the upright and we can rejoice and give thanks to God for this imputed righteousness. The world doesn’t have this joy and that’s too bad because this joy is our source of strength (Neh 8:10) so why not tap this source. Joy gives us strength and we’ll need this strength each and every day.
Conclusion
God’s Word has such power to lift our spirits each and every day. I find much strength for the day in His Word, particularly in the Book of Psalms and the Book of Isaiah. If you need to make your day a good one, depend on the One Who is good and that is God. God speaks to us every single day but the only way to hear His voice is to open up His Word. If you do, I can assure you that it will make your day…and make your day even better!
