Dolly Parton Gives Update on Her Health and Life After the Loss of Her Husband

Dolly Parton is a national treasure and recently gave her fans an update on how she is doing. The singer and entertainer had been dealing with some health issues. Knowing she is doing better is quite the relief, and we pray she continues to heal.
“I have some good news and a little bad news,” Dolly shares in a video to her fans. She goes on to say that she is responding really well to meds and treatment and is “improving every day.”

Dolly, 80, has been recovering from kidney stones and immune and digestive issues that she has been dealing with for the last three years, even having to cancel her Las Vegas residency because of it.
The singer and entertainer went on to share her bad news. It will take her a while to be back to “performance level,” which is understandable.
“I can’t be dizzy,” she says. “Carrying around banjos, guitars, and such, or five-inch heels. And you know that I’m going to be wearing them.”
Dolly Has Been Grieving Her Husband
Besides Dolly Parton’s health issues, she has also been dealing with the loss of her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, who passed away in March of 2025.
“After going through a year of firsts, I mean, the holidays and especially our wedding anniversary, and the day of his death, March 3rd, you know, that was hard for me. But I will always love him, and I’ll always miss him,” she shares.
Dolly then lets us fans know how much our love and concern have meant to her during this time.
Dolly Parton is Staying Busy
Even through everything, Dolly is staying busy and is up to a lot of fun and exciting things. She is still able to record videos, check in on Dollywood in Tennessee, work to get her museum and hotel ready to open in Nashville, and work on her Broadway musical.

“So I have great doctors, and I am doing really well, and they assure me that everything I have is treatable, so I’m going with that,” she says. Reassuring everyone, she is on the mend.
