Woman Smuggles Dog Wrapped In A Baby Blanket To See Sick Grandma

Most hospitals won't allow pets inside, unless they are a service animals. But sometimes rules meant to be broken. And 21-year-old Shelby Hennick recently decided to break a few rules for her sick grandma's sake. This daredevil granddaughter snuck into the hospital with grandma's beloved dog wrapped in a baby blanket.

Shelby's grandma, Dona, landed in the hospital following a bad reaction to one of her medications. The poor lady desperately missed her beloved pet dog, Patsy.

Dona brought Patsy home 13 years ago when the pup was only a few weeks old. In fact, Dona had to bottle feed the pooch, she was so tiny. The mothering created an intense bond between the two.

So, being away from Patsy was torture for Dona.

Shelby works as a veterinary technician. So, she knows just how special the bond is between owners and their fur-babies.

Shelby was chatting on her cell phone with her mom when her mom came up with the idea of taking Patsy to see Dona.

"I just happened to be passing my grandma's house when she called, so of course I was gonna do it," Shelby said.

The trouble is, most hospitals will only allow service pets through the doors. But Shelby, master of disguises, had a brilliant idea of how to get past "security" without so much as a second glance.

Why not disguise grandma's fur-baby as an actual newborn?! (Cue the Mission Impossible music here!) :)

And so, that's exactly what Shelby did. She showed up at the hospital with her grandma's dog wrapped in a baby blanket. And the little trick worked like a charm!

In fact, the ruse worked so well, Dona initially thought Shelby had brought her sister's baby to visit. But when Shelby slipped Patsy into her grandma's lap, the woman lit up with excitement!

And Patsy was overjoyed to see her human, too.

"Patsy kept crying and couldn't get close enough," Shelby recalled.

Secret Agent Shelby slipped back out with the cleverly hidden fur-baby in tow, once the visit was complete.

"I was really happy we were able to pull it off, and I'm sure it made her day," Shelby said.

Shelby shared the secret mission on Twitter, and couldn't believe the response she got.

You'll be glad to hear that Dona is doing much better, and is back home with Patsy.
