The Silence of God
Habakkuk lived during the 7th Century BC in the Southern Kingdom of Israel at a time of national apostasy. The prophet began his writing with a deep sense of despondency and frustration. In particular, he questioned the apparent delay of God in answering his prayer and the fairness of God in allowing the Babylonians to be the instrument of His judgment. These two questions, 'Does God really care?' and 'Is God being unfair' are questions that are relevant in our day. We see injustice and oppression and wonder why God does not act to show His social justice. Journey with me to see how God responded to the prophet's complaint and how this led to the prophet concluding his writing with a song of praise.
