'Victory In Jesus' Carrie Underwood Performs Hymn Live At The Ryman

Carrie Underwood’s performance of the gospel song ‘Victory in Jesus’ at the Ryman Auditorium may quickly become your favorite version of this beloved hymn.

The talented Christian country artist shines on the stage in a blush-colored ball gown covered in roses. Joined by three musicians, the arrangement is very simple, letting the powerful words wash over you.

I heard about His healing, of His cleansing power revealing
How He made the lame to walk again and 'caused the blind to see
And then I cried, "Dear Jesus, come and heal my broken spirit"
And somehow Jesus came and brought me to the victory

The incredible hymn written by E. M. Bartlett is always a favorite, and it was the song-writers best known, and most beloved song. It was also the final song he ever wrote.

In addition to songwriting, Eugene Bartlett was also a much-respected music teacher. He founded the Hartford Music Co. in Arkansas in 1918 and was an administrator of these singing schools for more than 20 years. He wrote ‘Victory in Jesus’ in 1939, just two years before his death.

Carrie Underwood became a household name after winning the fourth season of American Idol back in 2005. She won over the hearts of America with covers of songs such as Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" and “Bless The Broken Road” from Rascal Flatts.

Carrie included the classic hymn on her 8th studio album, My Savior, with 12 other Gospel greats. My Savior is Carrie’s first, full-length gospel album. She notably praised the Lord on live TV as she sang ‘Victory in Jesus’ on The Today Show earlier in the year.

Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago. - Isaiah 25:1
