Near the Cross' Bluegrass Performance By The Petersens

The Petersens share a beautiful bluegrass performance of ‘Near the Cross,’ and it is a wonderful reminder of God’s love for us.

“Near the cross I watch and wait, hoping and trusting ever;
'Til I reach that golden strand, it's just beyond the river.
In the cross, in the cross be my glory ever; 'til my raptured soul shall find,
One of these days I will find rest, rest beyond the river.”

The harmonies in this performance are beautiful. And the way that Ellen, Katie, and Emmett’s voices blend together is amazing! It is especially lovely to hear the acapella sound at the end of the video when the instruments cut out and you just hear their beautiful voices.

The Petersens, a family band performing full-time, are from Branson, MO. The band consists of Katie Petersen on fiddle, Ellen Petersen on banjo, Matt Petersen on guitar, Julianne Petersen on mandolin, Karen Petersen on bass, and Emmett Franz on dobro.

“This song is so heavily and deeply anointed, even more so as y'all play and sing it,” comments one person about the video on YouTube. “There is nothing quite like the theologically correct old hymns. This is powerful. Bless the Lord!”

“One of my favorite songs over the past 50 years since my salvation,” writes another person online. “Emmett has a powerful voice and blending with Katie and Ellen was special. Bless you all, He is risen!”

We hope you enjoyed listening to this rendition of ‘Near the Cross’ today and it uplifted you and brought you joy!

John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
