Description: Alarming levels of drug-resistant tuberculosis are found worldwide. According to Reuters, scientists have found an alarming number of cases of the lung disease tuberculosis in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America that are resistant to up to four powerful antibiotic drugs. A large international study found that the drug resistant Tuberculosis was threatening global efforts to curb the spread of the disease. TB is already a worldwide pandemic that infected 8.8 million people and killed 1.4 million people in 2010.
Iranian leaders call for new world order. According to Ynet News, Tehran's spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, addressed the assembly of Non-aligned Nations and said that the world "is in transition towards a new international order." He criticized Israel and the West, defended Iran's nuclear program, and urged the assembled nations to band together to form a new order. Iran's president also called fot the UN to play a greater role in managing the world's affairs.
World food prices rose by ten percent in July. According to Reuters, the World Bank said that world food prices jumped ten percent in July as drought parched crop lands in the United States and Eastern Europe.
