Robert Irwin Channels Phil Collins For 'In The Air Tonight' Lip-Sync
Conservationist and animal enthusiast Robert Irwin successfully channeled his inner Phil Collins for a lip-sync video to the classic “In the Air Tonight.”
The 1980s was a great decade for music fans. Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner and Madonna all topped the charts with their various hits. Prince drove a “Little Red Corvette” and wore a “Raspberry Beret” in the 80s. Queen was “Under Pressure” and the band Duran Duran was starving as they were “Hungry Like the Wolf” in that decade. Hair bands like Bon Jovi, Def Leppard and Van Halen were also in their prime.
The 80s provided many songs that have since become classic, timeless hits, including one from former Genesis lead singer Phil Collins. “In the Air Tonight” is a song everyone knows instantly from its opening notes. It’s so unique and distinct that you can’t help but know what song has just started once it begins playing.
But even more iconic and recognizable than the song’s opening notes is a drum solo that takes place about halfway through the song. In a short but hilarious clip posted on social media, Robert perfectly recreates the song’s memorable drum solo while pounding on a series of different drums.
However, Robert doesn’t just show off his fake drumming skills in the Instagram clip. He also demonstrates that he is quite the faux singer as well. He expertly mouths a couple of lines of “In the Air Tonight.”
Robert is quite active on social media and frequently posts about his interactions with wildlife and his many endeavors and adventures. It’s unclear whether he’ll continue posting lip-sync videos of himself. If he wants to stay with tunes from the 1980s that have a distinctive sound and opening, perhaps he could do “Africa” by Toto next.
Of course, Robert is the son of the late Steve Irwin, the beloved “Crocodile Hunter” known for his many encounters with wildlife and infectious, upbeat and cheerful personality.
Ephesians 5:19 “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;”
