Preservation of Government

In his farewell address, the first president of the United States, George Washingtom, said "Toward the preservation of your government and the permanency of your present happy state, it is requisite not only that you steadily discounteance irregular oppositions to its acknowledged authority but also that you resist with care the spirit of innovation upon its principles, however specious the pretexts." This means that Americans need to be on the lookout for opposition against the Consitution's authority, whether it be "regular" threats (as in terrorits), or "irregular" threats.
