The Attributes of God: God Exists Absolutely (The Reasons to Believe #81)
Our Reasons to Believe passage from the Word of God today is 2 Corinthians 10:5. It reads, "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ."
Our Reasons to Believe quote for today is from W.F. Albright. He said, "The Bible towers in content above all earlier religious literature; and it towers just as impressively over all subsequent literature in the direct simplicity of its message and…its appeal to men of all lands and times."
Our Reason to Believe powerpoint today is titled "The Attributes of God" from "The Handbook of Christian Apologetics" by Peter Kreeft and Ronald K. Tacelli:
God Exists Absolutely
By this we do not mean merely that God is always there or that he does not tend to go out of existence. These things are true, in a sense. But we mean something more.
God is the source of being, or existence, for all things. Looking at the universe we see that in every creature there is a distinction between its essence and its existence; that there is a difference between what things are and the fact that they are. That is why, as we saw, limited things are by nature existential zeroes, why they have a need for being that they cannot themselves supply.
If God is the answer to this question about finite being, then he cannot suffer from this same need. In other words, in God there can be no such distance between what he is and that he is.

Today's Devotional
A Prayer for Spending Money - Your Daily Prayer - May 29
No one is immune to the negative hold that money can have on our hearts in plenty or in want. I am a spender. I like to shop and get new things. However, God has taught me throughout my life to pray about my spending and to listen to the still, small voices that lead me in my financial decisions. God desires us to live a life of generosity, putting God before money. We cannot serve both God and money.
