Lamentations 3:31-33 - When I was in College and in High School, I used to read the Bible all the way through and then begin again. One day I was in my living room reading the Book of Lamentations, which is a very small book in the Bible nestled between the much larger Books of Jeremiah and Ezekiel. The room that I was reading in was facing the road, and I could see the cars drive by. As I read, I saw a mail truck drop off our mail, so I went to the mailbox to get it. When I pulled the letters out, I saw that one of them was addressed to me, so I opened it. To my surprise, the letter quoted Lamentations 3:31-33, and was signed God. "For the Lord will not reject forever. For if He causes grief. Then, He will have compassion according to His abundant loving kindness. For He does not afflict willingly or grieve the sons of men". (NASB)When I returned to the Bible in my living room, I realized that those verses were in the passage that I was reading right before I got the mail. Now I can understand how some well meaning person could fill out these encouraging verses, and then mail them to me; however, they could have never know that I would be actually reading that passage when it arrived. Let me ask you, what is the probability that this could have ever happened with the involvement of God? Actually, I'm convinced that God did send me a letter that day.
