Lauren Daigle Sings 'The Christmas Song'

Grammy award-winning Christian artist Lauren Daigle performs a beautiful rendition of 'The Christmas Song.'
Some of the most performed Christmas songs of all time include Silent Night and Jingle Bells, which were both written in the 1800s. But the Christmas song that is performed by Lauren Daigle wouldn’t have been written at all if it wasn’t for a misunderstanding!
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jack Frost nipping at your nose
Yule-tide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like Eskimos
That song is ‘The Christmas Song,’ which was written in 1945 by Bob Wells and Mel Tormé. The two men didn’t originally set out to write the now-popular song at all! It was a really hot summer day, and the two musicians were hanging out. As a way to stay cool, Bob had started writing down things that made him think of wintertime. He was really hot and believed if he wrote down chilly thoughts, he could become more comfortable by thinking cooler thoughts! Mel saw the list, mistakenly thought that Bob had started writing a song, and so he started adding to it and completing it! And that’s the story behind ‘The Christmas Song.’
Lauren’s smoky voice lends itself perfectly to this Christmas classic. Nat King Cole performed a very famous version of this song, as did Christina Aguilera and Michael Buble’, and I love them all! I’m sure that Lauren’s version will become an instant classic!
And so I'm offering this simple phrase
To kids from one to ninety-two
Although it's been said many times, many ways
Merry Christmas to you
