I was teased and picked on throughout my childhood at the hands of bullies. I was made to feel worthless, ugly, and insignificant. I would wish to be invisible, to pass through each painful day at school unseen, unheard, unnoticed. There was no comfort in those age-old words, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." Their words cut deep into my very core, overshadowing everything I believed myself to be. My message to my teenage self and anyone else suffering at the hands of bullies -- You are loved. You are valued. You are not alone. Don't let anyone dim your God-given light -- Let it shine!
