Sermon: "Jesus, Our Charismatic King," Part 2
Charisma is a hard quality to define, but some people have it, and others don't. Religious and political leaders, actors, and business leaders are often those who have that certain dynamism, that personal presence, that marks them as a charismatic leader. The German sociologist Max Weber tried to define it as a "supernatural" quality that sets someone apart from the crowd, making them almost "super-human." The ancient Hebrew prophet Isaiah spoke of One who would come to Israel as their theocratic King, on whom the Spirit of God would rest, Isaiah 11:2-3. In this sermon, Pastor MacLaren shows what Isaiah meant by this "charisma" of the Spirit, and who would be the one of whom Isaiah spoke. This sermon has four parts, and was preached at First Presbyterian Church in Perkasie, PA (www.firstchurchopc.com) on July 5, 2009.
