Obese Golden Retriever Sheds Pounds And Steals Hearts

In this video, posted by Good Morning America, we hear the story of Frannie, a 125 lb golden retriever. Annika Bram is a veterinary student at UC Davis’ School of Veterinary Medicine and adopted Frannie to save her from being euthanized. She is the one narrating the video.

“I couldn’t get her to stand up,” Annika says. Frannie couldn’t walk, as you can see in the video. Annika was told that she was kept outside her whole life and was only on concrete. The poor thing.

Annika had recently lost her dog Georgia, who she had helped lose 85 lbs. “I think Georgia sent her to me,” she shares.

After three weeks, Frannie could get up on her own as we watch Frannie up and walking in the video. She soon starts playing with a tennis ball, which has become her favorite. She takes the tennis ball with her and moves it to different places.

After two months, Frannie had lost 31 lbs and could walk up to half a mile. You can also see her playing with the tennis ball outside, which is quite the change from the beginning of the video, where she couldn’t even get up on her own.

“It makes me so proud, and I’m just so happy for her that she can just have her life back,” Annika tells the camera

Annika has worked hard with Frannie to get her where she is now. Annika talks about how Frannie was healing for her after losing her dog. And that she is trying to make things up for the hard life Frannie previously had.

Watching an owner pour such love and patience into a dog who needs it is the most heartwarming of stories. Frannie is living her best life because of Annika and all she has done for her.
