'Silent Night' Christmas Hymn From Country Star Gabby Barrett

'Silent Night' Christmas Hymn From Country Star Gabby Barrett

Check out this beautiful performance of the Christmas hymn ‘Silent Night’ from country star Gabby Barrett.

“Silent night, holy night! All is calm, all is bright.
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child, Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace”

The music video shows Gabby Barrett performing ‘Silent Night’ at this year’s CMA Country Christmas Show. It is a beautiful rendition of the classic hymn with just clear vocals and a single guitar. The performers are surrounded by Christmas trees all lit up around the stage, and it is a magical sight.

The singer Gabby Barrett is an American country music artist, and she was the third finalist on the sixteenth season of American Idol.

As for the Christmas hymn ‘Silent Night,’ it was first sung on Christmas Eve 1818, in the church of St. Nicholas in Oberndorf near Salzburg. The words of ‘Silent Night’ were written by Rev. Joseph Mohr, a young priest in Oberndorf. He wrote them in 1816 as a reflection on peace after a summer of violence in Salzburg. Two years later, Joseph Mohr asked his friend Franz Xaver Gruber, a schoolteacher and organist, to set his words to music.

When Joseph and Franz performed ‘Silent Night’ for the first time in 1818 at Christmas Eve Mass, it was an instant hit. The Christmas carol has now been translated into over 300 languages, and the first English translation appeared in New York City in 1851.

We hope that you enjoyed listening to this video of country star Gabby Barrett singing ‘Silent Night’ this holiday season!

Matthew 2:11
And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.
