'Pinocchio' Upcoming Live-Action Disney Film Featuring Tom Hanks

Get ready to head to the movie theaters and whisper under your breath our favorite line from childhood, “Starlight, starbright, the first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might have this wish I wish tonight.” That’s right folks, our favorite movie is hitting the theaters this fall. You don’t want to miss: Pinocchio, an upcoming live-action Disney film featuring Tom Hanks.

We grew up reading the book by Carlo Collodi and we adored the cartoon version of Pinocchio but now we get to see it with a refreshed 21st-century look compared to the 1940 animated Disney film.  Tom Hanks stars as Geppetto, a childless woodworker who longed to have a son.

The trailer of the movie gives us a first look at Tom as a scruffy, elderly man with white hair and wire-rimmed glasses! From the looks of the movie so far, it follows the original story closely including the movie set as it reveals Tom at the wood makers workbench where the not yet alive Pinocchio sits with a yellow hat and a red feather!

The trailer also gives us glimpses of CG Jiminy Cricket voiced by Joesph Gorden-Levvit and the cast includes Lorraine Bracco as a new character Sofia the Seagull. The movie is set to release on Disney Plus as well as in movie theaters. It will be a fun movie to watch regardless of your age.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll be looking forward to watching it with kids and grandkids or even alone in the comfort of your own home.

We all have a little Pinocchio in us. We don’t listen, we think we want to be like everyone else and we might even think the grass is greener on the other side. But then we run into trouble and learn to heed the words of the wise who truly want us to grow up slow and grow up with a good heart.

Pinocchio reminds me of our heavenly Father who has given us guidance and wisdom. Yet, he still loves us when we find out we should have listened to him. And like Pinocchio’s father, he welcomes us home with open arms. I hope you enjoyed the trailer just as much as I do.
