Spring into Action Part 3
This new effort, to bring the Union Pacific Railroad and local casinos together to benefit a worthy charity, is unprecedented. Using no public money, Light The Bridge is asking these corporations to act like other good members of society and do their part to improve the communities where they do business and be a patron to worthwhile local charities. Light the bridge is proposing that the casinos put up the money for an endowment at the Food Bank and the Union Pacific improve the developing riverfront by lighting their bridge that crosses the Missouri River. The lit Union Pacific Railroad Bridge, that spans the Missouri River next to Harrah's Casino & Ameristar, will be dedicated as a lasting symbol of this donation and partnership. Unlike the Salvation Army and their yearly "Tree of Lights", which quickly leaves the public memory shortly after Christmas, this symbol will endure. It will remind people of the need to help the less fortunate and that the contributing corporations acted as good friends to the communities. It will also act as a beacon of hope to the down trodden here in our town, reminding them that people care and are thinking of them. Cities all across the country, using the Omaha, NE and Council Bluffs, IA project as their prototype, could replicate this effort and benefit enormously.

A Prayer for Spending Money - Your Daily Prayer - May 29
No one is immune to the negative hold that money can have on our hearts in plenty or in want. I am a spender. I like to shop and get new things. However, God has taught me throughout my life to pray about my spending and to listen to the still, small voices that lead me in my financial decisions. God desires us to live a life of generosity, putting God before money. We cannot serve both God and money.
