6 Olympic Ice Skaters Disguise Themselves During Beginner Class
This funny prank was put on by Good Morning America. “We are doing a GMA Undercover. All week long we’ve been showing you how celebrities have been surprising their fans in very unexpected places and ways,” says one of the hosts on the morning show. “And this morning we have an Olympic sized surprise for you!”
The undercover agents that GMA got for this segment were six superstar figure skater Olympians. They included Kristi Yamaguchi, Brian Boitano, Kimmie Meissner, Todd Eldredge, and John and Sinead Kerr.
Kristine Yamaguchi is a former figure skater and is the 1992 Olympic champion in ladies' singles, a two-time World champion, and the 1992 U.S. champion. Brian Boitano is a figure skater who won the 1988 Olympic champion, the 1986 and 1988 World Champion, and the 1985–1988 U.S. National Champion. And Kimmie Meissner is a former figure skater who won the 2006 World champion, the 2007 Four Continents champion, and the 2007 U.S. national champion.
As for Todd Eldredge, he is a former competitive figure skater who won the 1996 World champion, a six-time U.S. national champion, a three-time Olympian, and a six-time World medalist. And John and Sinead Kerr are siblings and former competitive ice dancers from Scotland who are two-time European bronze medalists and the 2004–2010 British national champions.
The mission for these talented athletes in this video: put on a disguise and join a group lesson and convince a rink full of skaters that this is their first time ever on the ice.
When they first show up at the Winter Village at Bryant Park in their disguises, they try really hard to look like they are uncomfortable and unsure on the ice. Which must be really hard for them since they have decades of experience skating so it must be so natural to them when they are on the ice!
The surprise reveal happened when the ice was cleared to be cleaned by the Zamboni machine. Then all the Olympic figure skaters came out to show off their beautiful moves!
The rest of the skaters around the rink were in shock! They were taking out their cameras to document what was going on and to get a snapshot of the Olympic skaters in action. What a fun surprise!
