Police Step In To Help Sloth Slowly Cross The Road

Just when this little guy found himself in a dangerous situation, police stepped in to help the sloth slowly cross the road.

This might not be something you see every day in the states! We see critters like deer, squirrels, and other woodland creatures cross the road all the time, and sometimes they don’t make it across safely. If those speedy animals struggle with traffic, imagine how scary it must be for a slow little sloth!

Luckily, someone saw this fuzzy guy in time to call in some reinforcements. In Punta Arenas, Costa Rica, local law enforcement helped block off both sides of the road as a sloth crawled across the concrete.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a sloth not in a tree or not in a person’s arms let alone traveling across the ground! Not sure what I thought it would look like, but this is not it!

In the video, the sloth moves just as slow as you’d imagine. He’s also super low to the ground — basically dragging himself along. That can’t feel too good on his tummy! He uses his large claws to pull his body forward, and even though he’s slow, it’s oddly impressive.

Watching these professional, serious police officers basically act as bodyguards for the little guy just puts the biggest smile on my face. People that had to stop and wait got out of their cars to get a closer look and take videos. Must not be too common their either!

The sloth safely made it across the street and made everyone’s day — including ours! Good thing someone shared a video! It’s always so heartwarming to see people come together to protect and admire one of God’s creatures.

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. Hebrews 13:15-16
