Barefoot Rodeo Queen Sings ‘Horses In Heaven’ About Grandpa For AGT Audition
One young woman turned in a moving performance, singing an original song about her late grandfather on America’s Got Talent.
Country music has legions of dedicated fans. The genre’s sweet, easy-listening melodies and toe-tapping, catchy lyrics have made it a favorite of many. Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Zac Brown Band and a handful of other country music artists consistently reach the top of the charts.
Kylie Frey, a 28-year-old woman from Opelousas, Louisiana, aspires to be a musician and hopes to follow in the footsteps of another country music superstar: Reba McEntire.
During her audition on America’s Got Talent, Kylie, while barefoot, explained to the judges how she got her start singing the national anthem at rodeos. She also added that she sings at all the rodeos she attends because of advice her grandfather gave her.
“So, I wrote this song for my grandpa,” she confessed. “He always told me that if I sang the national anthem for every rodeo that I showed up to, that one day, someone would ask me to sing the national anthem at the NFR. Which is the Super Bowl of rodeo, and that’s how I was going to get my start. Because that’s how Reba did.”
After a few moments of back and forth with the audience, several other musicians walk out on stage, and Kylie gets into her song.
Right from the get-go, it’s clear that Kylie has an abundance of talent. The young woman has a beautiful voice that would fit right in with country music radio.
In addition to her lovely voice, Kylie has a knack for songwriting. Her original song is a touching tune that paints a picture in listeners' minds. She says so much about her relationship with and love for her grandfather in a short time.
At the end of her audition, the studio audience gave the young singer-songwriter a standing ovation.

A Prayer to Stay on the Path of Righteousness - Your Daily Prayer - October 5
Staying on the path of righteousness takes work; many distractions and hindrances exist. But, each day, we have a choice: will we choose God and His ways, which are better than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9), or the way of the world that leads to destruction (Matthew 7:13-14)?
