A Mother's Powerful Audition Earns 4-Chair Turn On The Voice

A mother’s powerful and nearly flawless blind audition on The Voice earned her an impressive four-chair turn from the judges.

Everyone has been gifted and blessed with different skills and talents. Some people are good in one area, while others may be naturally talented in many places. Regardless of how many or in what, the Lord has given individuals the ability to do various things.

While some people may have similar gifts, like public speaking or woodworking, there will be evident and apparent differences. Their sound, delivery, and presentation will be different. The end product will not be the same. The Lord produces individuals and not replicas. All are unique in their own particular way.

One way that 43-year-old Val T. Webb is unique is her silky-smooth singing voice. As the mom demonstrates during her blind audition on The Voice, she is an unbelievably gifted singer. Her voice is one that you could listen to sing just about anything. It’s that beautiful, and all four judges seemed to agree wholeheartedly.

Seconds after Val starts singing Deborah Cox’s hit “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here,” John Legend flips his chair around, signaling his interest in adding the worship leader and backup singer to his team. Dan + Shay, Chance the Rapper and then Reba McEntire are not too far behind John.

All the judges raved about Val’s audition as they gave her their best pitch, hoping she would ultimately choose them as her coach. However, it was Reba who gave Val the highest compliment of them all.

“I was turned backwards a while ago, looking that way, and I was like, ‘Well, I’m the country girl singer here. I don’t know what I could do to contribute,” Reba said. “But then I got to thinking, if I’m going to give any notes, I really need to pay attention and see if there’s anything I can critique on. There wasn’t, and that’s when I hit the button.”

It will be interesting to see how far Val’s lovely voice will take her in the competition.

Psalm 104:33 “I will make songs to the Lord all my life; I will make melody to God while I have my being.”
