All 3 Judges Tear Up As Oliver Steele Sings For His Dad After Stroke - Audition Videos

A singer-songwriter had everyone in tears as he serenaded his father, who suffered a debilitating stroke. 

Fathers do have a major and lasting impact on their children's lives. Dad is one of the first two people children usually encounter. Whether for good or bad, children often emulate the words and actions of their parents. 

Oliver Steele, a 25-year-old singer-songwriter from Tennessee, is a musician likely because his father was a former professional guitar player and singer-songwriter. However, Oliver’s father suffered a stroke that affected the left side of his body. 

Following his father’s medical episode, Oliver admits he was in unknown territory. He was unsure what he could do to provide his father with assistance, how to comfort him or how to better the situation. 

 “I just remember feeling very powerless,” Oliver said. 

Oliver went on to mention that his father is a big reason why he even decided to try out for American Idol. After Oliver relays how much his dad is a motivating factor for him, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan ask that Oliver’s dad be brought in for his son’s audition.

The tears begin to flow soon after dad is wheeled into the room.

The song Oliver auditions with is even one that his father would play on a regular basis: “Change the World” by Eric Clapton.

While normally seated during auditions, Lionel, Katy and Luke stand and take into the beautiful moment happening right before them between father and son. All three of them have tears welling up in their eyes. 

On top of all the tears from the judges and Oliver’s father, Oliver sounds fantastic. He also changes the song enough to make the iconic tune his own. 

Lionel, Katy and Luke are in total agreement on Oliver. It’s yes votes all around. Oliver is going to Hollywood!
