Matthew West And Mandisa Perform 'Blessed Assurance' - Christian Music Videos

Talented Christian artists Matthew West and Mandisa perform a live rendition of the classic hymn ‘Blessed Assurance’ at the 2019 K-Love Fan Awards. This hymn is beloved by many and the lyrics still ring out true today.

Matthew West is a Dove award-winning musician who has given us hits such as ‘Forgiveness’ and ‘Hello (My Name Is).’ Mandisa started out as a contestant on American Idol’s fifth season and instantly won over the hearts of America. With singles such as ‘Overcomer’ and ‘Stronger’ she earned a name for herself as a powerhouse Christian voice.

This hymn was written in 1873 by Fanny Crosby who used music by Phoebe Knapp. Phoebe was visiting Fanny’s house one day when she played her a tune on the piano. Phoebe asked Fanny what it sounded like and Fanny replied, ‘Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine!’

They continued to finish the composition and give us the hymn that we all know and love today. And it’s so incredible to hear the next generation of musicians continue to perform this traditional worship song.
