Bluegrass Family Band Performs 'Christmas Time's a-Comin''

Bluegrass family band performs ‘Christmas Time’s A-Comin’ and it’s just what you need to get in the Christmas spirit!

Who doesn’t love Christmas music during the Christmas season. (Which as far as we’re concerned started in October this year. Afterall, it’s 2020 and it seems anything goes, so why not create a little Christmas cheer?)

A bluegrass family band performed ‘Christmas Time’s a-Comin just for that reason. The melody of voices, mixed with the staples of a banjo and guitar create the perfect bluegrass Christmas song. The Petersons help usher in the Christmas season with a reminder of our blessings to come. It’s also a chance to prepare our hearts to receive the best gift of all, our Savior!

The Peterson band is a group of siblings, Katie, Ellen, Matt, and Julieanne, their parents, and their friend Emmett Franz located in the Ozarks of Missouri. Many of their fans grew up listening to bluegrass music. Despite being one of the younger performing groups in Branson, they have succeeded in introducing the genre to a new generation of fans and it shows!

They have performed at the Little Opry Theatre for the last ten seasons at the Branson IMAX Entertainment Complex. However, this song is performed at Weddings At The Homestead which is the perfect backdrop of a little rustic cabin in the Missouri woods.

They do a fabulous performance of this classic song. The song has been a popular bluegrass Christmas song since 1951 when it was originally recorded by Bill Monroe. Later it was performed by Sammy Kershaw, ranking fifty on the Billboard country charts. It certainly brought a sense of childhood nostalgia back then and it still does. It brings memories of family gatherings, rushing out of the cold, and joy filling our hearts as we anticipate Christmas day when Christ Jesus came into the world to save us all.

It is such a blessing to witness the younger generation sing about the goodness of Christ’s birth. I’m sure we will be seeing more of their incredible performances.

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever." – 1 Timothy 1:15-17
