We Are The Monks - Rise
From their debut album "We Are The Monks", this is the song "Rise", written by Trent Monk, with his wife Shellie joining him. You may not recognize the name Trent Monk, but you may recognize the name Monk & Neagle, a popular Christian duo from a few years ago. Remember "Dancing With The Angels"? That was them. They eventually went their separate ways, then Trent met Shellie and they were married, and a new musical duo was formed.
I'm on the listening board for Worship Leader magazine and I heard this song as a candidate for SongDiscovery CD Volume 117 (July/August). Of course I gave it 5 out of 5 stars. It's a refreshing departure from a lot of the stuff in Christian music these days that all sounds the same to me. This is catchy, upbeat, and makes you want to rise and lift your praises to the Lord.
