19-Year-Old Rushes To Save Boy From Dog Attack

We never know when the opportunity to be a hero will present itself, but watch here as one quick-thinking 19-year-old rushes to save a boy from a dog attack. This teenager jumped in to help without hesitation!

The video opens at the news desk where anchors introduce the story before taking us to reporter Bill Barajas broadcasting from an idyllic Houston-area neighborhood. The reporter shares a video of the incident, captured by home camera systems. Three children play in the driveway of one home when a pitbull enters the scene, and the dog’s not interested in hanging out with little guys.

We see the pitbull lunge toward Jillian Lindemann’s 6-year-old son Mason, and Mason is down and under the weight of the pitbull in an instant! The boy’s two playmates flee, one running inside the victim’s home and the other toward the home next door. Immediately, another person runs head-on into the terrifying situation. That person is neighbor Brandt Brown!

The video, recorded from several angles, plays, and the reporter speaks separately with Jillian and Brandt about that day. Jillian explains that her son really did not know how to respond to the attack, never having been put into a situation like that.

Brandt recalled his thoughts when he saw Mason on the ground, “As soon as I noticed, I just ran over there without thinking, and I didn’t know how, but I knew I had to get the dog off of the boy.” That he did!

The pitbull eventually became distracted by Brandt and began running after him. Brandt, now with the attention of the animal, ran full-speed away, giving Mason a chance to get into his home for help. Jillian had heard the screaming and now saw Mason running in, blood dripping from a cut on his head.

Brandt, too, was overtaken by the canine. He lost his shoes and stumbled during the chase but was able to keep the dog from biting him and escaped with only a cut on his hand. Mason’s face was bruised, and he needed staples to close his wound. However, his injuries could have been much more serious were it not for Brandt!

Jillian acknowledges that she owes Brandt a big hug and a bigger thank you. Of course, when it comes to the life and safety of a child, it’s hard to find an appropriate or adequate reward for bravery like Brandt’s. But, it doesn’t appear Brandt did what he did for thanks or any other reward. Hearing Brandt talk, it seems like 19-year-old Brandt is one heck of a man!
