Alabama Police Department Goes Viral Trying To Create Their First TikTok

These officers could set their seriousness aside for a little fun, and their video went viral! In this hilarious video, the Alabama Police Department goes viral trying to create their first TikTok.

Chief Bowles seems to have a huge learning curve in trying to use his phone to make a video. In this clip, he holds the phone backwards in his attempt to introduce himself. He also holds the phone in a way where his face isn’t entirely on the screen and even refers to TikTok as “The TikTok.”

But what makes it even more funny is how Officer Jake Ford has to correct Chief Bowles and provide instruction throughout the video.

Chief Bowles schools Jake on the fact that Jake wasn’t around when the internet was born. “It's The TikTok. It’s the internet! I was around when the internet was invented. You weren’t there Jake!” And Jake had to politely tell his chief he was still filming. So on to take two of creating a video!

At one point, Chief Bowles discovers a silly filter that creates a hat, and Officer Ford has to explain that just because Chief Bowles likes the filter it doesn’t mean he should use it–especially in their first professional attempt to connect with the community of Anniston. Afterall the first video is supposed to be a friendly and formal introduction.

Finally Chief Bowles hands the camera over to Nick so he can tell the community they “started this TikTok page to kind of do a little community outreach and kind of reach out, so everybody can kind of get an inside look at what we do here.”

Those who watched the video loved the commentary and the funny generational banter and now they are going viral with over 500,000 views. One viewer commented, “You do you Chief. Don’t let Jake mess up your crown.”

Another added, “I’m here for it Chief. You cute Jake but let’s leave the tiktokking [sic] to the professionals.”

We can’t wait for more videos and I think Chief Bowles should use as many filters as he wants. What a great way for these officers to connect with their community and show they are humans just like everyone else and what it means to truly protect, serve, and lay down our lives for others.
