7-Year-Old Girl Gets License to Own a Unicorn
Children have a unique way of looking at the world. Most do not yet have the same pessimistic and cynical outlook that many adults possess. To children, just about anything is possible, including owning a unicorn.
Madeline is a 7-year-old girl who is deeply fascinated with all things unicorns. The girl loves unicorns so much that she wrote to the animal control department in Los Angeles for a license to own the magical beast. To her and her parents’ surprise, the child’s request for a license was granted, according to CBSNews. It was the first-ever such license issued by the department.
Madeline’s mother, after she first learned about her daughter’s proposal to own a unicorn of her own, did not shoot down the idea. Instead, she suggested the child take the proper steps.
“Well, Madeline’s a very curious little girl. Anything that she proposes, we want to encourage and support. So, when she came up to me with this idea, I thought, ‘Ok, we can do this but let’s do it through the proper measures of seeing what’s required to maintain such a large animal,”’ Madeline’s mother, Leilani said.
Instead of completely disregarding Madeline’s request, the director of L.A. County’s Animal Care and Control responded with some rules and stipulations for taking care of the magical animal.
For instance, the letter required that Madeline give the unicorn watermelon “at least once a week.” She also must keep the animal’s horn clean and healthy by “polishing at least once a month with a soft cloth,” according to the video.
After receiving the letter with the stipulations for owning the magical pet, Madeline quickly agreed and was soon given the license to own the large animal.
In Matthew 7:7, Jesus said, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you:” Much like Jesus’ statement in Matthew, Madeline said she’s learned that “if you want something then you have to ask for it and to ask for it, you have to do something to ask for it.”
Matthew 19:14 “But Jesus said, ‘Allow the little children, and don’t forbid them to come to me; for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these.”’
