"Happy Birthday to you" is an appropriate thing to say and sing this morning as we gather to worship on the birthday of the Christian Church we call Pentecost. While Mother�s Day is what is special about this day to Americans, today is also special around the world because today the Church of Jesus Christ came into being when the Holy Spirit fell upon the followers of Jesus and formed them into a living, faith-filled community. As we gather on this special occasion and celebrate the Church, Pastor Randy will be focusing on the story about the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2 and what that says to us about the nature and function of the Holy Spirit. Take some time before worship begins to say a prayer for yourself and those around you that we might be open to the work of God�s Spirit this day.
