'Shenandoah' Performance From Young Barbershop Chorus

Check out this performance of the song ‘Shenandoah’ from a young barbershop chorus.

“Oh, Shenandoah, I long to hear you, away, you rolling river
Oh, Shenandoah, I long to hear you, away, I'm bound away, cross the wide Missouri.
Oh, Shenandoah, I love your daughter, away, you rolling river
Oh, Shenandoah, I love your daughter, away, I'm bound away, cross the wide Missouri”

The group singing this song is called the Young Guns Shenandoah, and this video was filmed in Orlando, Florida during the Barbershop Harmony Society’s 2013 Midwinter Convention.

All of the singers in the group have beautiful voices, and their lovely harmonies fill the room. And the song that they are singing is so peaceful sounding.

‘Shenandoah’ is a traditional American folk song that dates back to the early 19th century. The song appears to have originated with Canadian and US voyageurs or fur traders traveling down the Missouri River in canoes, and it has developed several different sets of lyrics. Some lyrics of the song tell the story of a trader who fell in love with the daughter of the Oneida Iroquois chief Shenandoah, who lived in the central New York state town of Oneida Castle.

We hope you enjoyed this lovely performance of ‘Shenandoah,’ and it was able to bring you some peace today.

Romans 8:1-6
1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. 3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6 For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
