Boy Heartbroken Over Lost Pokémon Collection Gets 15,000 Cards From Airline Staff

A sweet little boy was heartbroken over his lost Pokémon collection, but got 15,000 cards from airline staff. Sometimes what seems like a small thing to one person can feel like the whole world to someone else. When 7-year-old Reid lost his beloved binder of Pokémon cards at Denver International Airport, his heart broke. The binder held a collection he had carefully built, card by card, treasure by treasure.

To many adults, a stack of trading cards might not seem like much. But for Reid, those cards weren’t just paper. They were memories, excitement, pride, and joy—all tucked neatly into that one binder.

His Dad Shared About His Lost Pokémon Cards

His dad shared the story online, hoping someone might have found the lost collection. But despite airport employees and strangers searching high and low, the binder never turned up.

What happened next, however, turned heartbreak into something extraordinary.

Employees from United Airlines saw the story and felt moved to help. Word spread among staff members, and something beautiful began to happen. Employees started donating their own Pokémon cards to replace the ones Reid had lost.

And they didn’t just send a few.

The Airline Workers Replace Lost Cards

Cards began arriving from all over—from employees across the country and even across the world. When Reid and his family arrived back at the airport expecting perhaps a couple of thousand cards, they were stunned.

More than 15,000 Pokémon cards have been collected.

Boxes and binders of cards weighing nearly 90 pounds were presented to the wide-eyed 7-year-old. Some were common cards. Others were rare collectibles that people had once cherished themselves. Many donors included handwritten notes explaining why a certain card meant something special to them and why they wanted Reid to have it now.

It Was a True Gift of Kindness

Reid was thrilled. His parents were in tears. Because the gift wasn’t just about cards. It was about kindness. Stories like this remind us of the power of small acts of compassion. A simple card. A handwritten note. A stranger choosing to care. Those little things carry enormous weight—especially for a child whose world was turned upside down by losing something he loved.

I understand that kind of feeling deeply because I have a brother with special needs who collects things like Pokémon cards, too. When something like that is lost, it can feel like the ground has shifted beneath their feet. What might seem silly or insignificant to others can feel like everything to them. And that’s why this story touches my heart so deeply.

His Pokémon Collection is Bigger Than Ever

Because those airline employees understood something important: kindness doesn’t have to be complicated to be powerful. Sometimes it looks like digging through your own collection, choosing a favorite card, and sending it to a little boy you’ve never met—just to remind him the world still has good in it.

Now Reid’s collection is bigger than ever, and he’s already begun sharing the joy with others. He recently hosted a trading party for his classmates and gave each of them a bag filled with cards to play with. His family plans to donate even more so he can learn what it means to pass kindness forward.

And maybe that’s the most beautiful part of the story. One lost binder sparked thousands of small acts of generosity—and now that kindness is spreading even further. Because sometimes the smallest things—like a card, a note, or a moment of compassion—can change someone’s entire world.

A Prayer for Resurrection in the Areas I Thought Were Dead - Your Daily Prayer - April 2

Just as Jesus rose from the grave, God can breathe life into the areas of our lives that feel buried. No matter how devastating the loss, when we seek Him in our disappointment and pain, we will begin to see dry bones stir.
