A hospital unit filled with joy as 17 labor and delivery nurses are expecting babies. I don't know who needs to hear this, but there must be something in the water at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Or maybe it's just that when you spend your days welcoming miracles into the world, eventually one decides to make itself at home. Either way, this story absolutely delivered.

Can you imagine that many baby bumps in one unit? The people who coach moms through contractions, count tiny fingers and toes, and announce, "It's a boy!" or "It's a girl!" are now counting down to meet little ones of their own. Talk about bringing your work home with you.

17 Labor and Delivery Nurses Are Expecting Babies

Nurse manager Amberly Saner said they discovered the baby boom little by little. "It's exciting," Amberly said. "We kind of found out over a period of a couple of months how many people were pregnant, and it just kept growing and growing." Apparently, the only thing multiplying faster than baby blankets is the maternity leave calendar.

Some of the nurses are first-time moms, while others are adding another little heartbeat to their families. Maddie, who is 26 weeks pregnant with her second child, and her best friend, Rileigh, who is 31 weeks along with her second baby, have worked together for five years and even started work on the same day. Rileigh even plans to have Maddie deliver her baby.

Coworkers Prepare to Welcome Babies Together

"There's also no one else that I would trust more delivering my children than the people who work here," Rileigh said.

I love that. These women have spent years helping strangers welcome new life into the world, and now they'll be cheering each other on through midnight cravings, swollen ankles, tiny kicks, and those unforgettable first cries. Before long, they'll swap stethoscopes for swaddles, charting for car seats, and shift reports for sleepless nights. It sounds like the hospital nursery may need its own employee reunion in a few years.
