A 12-year-old boy is recovering after a shark attack thanks to his brother’s quick thinking. Brothers have a funny way of loving each other. One minute, they're wrestling in the living room, arguing over whose turn it is for the TV remote, or teasing each other without mercy. The next, they'd step into danger without a second thought.

Beneath every rivalry is a bond that runs deep. That kind of brotherhood was put to the test when what began as a dream vacation in the Bahamas became a fight for survival when Parker Roll was attacked by an 8-to10-foot reef shark while swimming with his older brothers.

Parker and his big brother, Jack, had ventured toward a mangrove-lined canal near Staniel Cay, Exuma, when they noticed what they first believed was a rock. As it moved closer, Jack assumed it was a harmless nurse shark. Seconds later, he heard Parker scream.

"I looked down and could see my bone," Parker recalled. "It felt like a knife stabbing over and over, then twisting."

Saved Brother After Shark Attack

Jack sprang into action despite being terrified. He pulled off his swimsuit and tied it tightly around Parker's badly injured leg to slow the bleeding while shouting for help. His other brother, Adam, ran to alert the boat crew. But the family was stranded nearly 60 miles offshore with no cell service or radio contact. Crew members carried Parker back to the boat, where everyone onboard prayed during the long ride back to shore. It was a race against time. But God showed up in that boat, answering prayers for Parker.

Once they regained cell service, emergency responders rushed Parker to a hospital. Surgeons worked to save his leg, closing the devastating wound with more than 1,000 stitches. Can you believe it? 1,000 stitches and 60 miles away from help, on top of a race to the nearest hospital. It was a miracle moment the family, especially Parker, will carry for a lifetime. 

The Rescue Wouldn’t Have Been Possible Without His Brother

Parker believes that wouldn't have been possible without his brother. "I definitely consider him my hero," Parker said. "He stopped the bleeding and saved my life."

Sometimes God's miracles come through steady hands that know what to do in a crisis. Sometimes they come through voices lifted in prayer while help is still miles away. For Parker, they came through both. Jack's quick thinking made the difference between tragedy and hope. Their parents say they are blessed that Parker is doing so well.

After 16 hours alone in her yard, an elderly woman gets help from two caring teens. What began with a Pop-Tart, a FaceTime call, and plans for an ordinary summer morning became a life-saving act of kindness neither boy will ever forget.

Summer has a way of slowing life down. Kids sleep in, ride bikes with their best friends, and spend their days chasing adventure instead of a schedule. But sometimes, the ordinary moments become the ones God uses in extraordinary ways. That’s how best friends Gunner Skidmore and Kohen Chick in Fruitland, Iowa, became angels in disguise. 

The Two Teens Were Out Having Fun When They Found the Woman

The two were headed toward Muscatine along 57th Street South, laughing and enjoying another carefree summer morning, when something caught Kohen's eye.

"I went to the trail, and Kohen was like, 'You see that lady back there?' I was like, 'No,'" Gunner said. "Then, we went back and looked, and it took a little while to find her." Hidden from view was an elderly woman lying on the ground.

"I said, 'Hey ma'am, are you OK?' She was like, 'Yeah, I need help. Call 911," Gunner recalled.

They knew she needed help, but they were unsure what to do. So, the boys called Gunner's mom, who hurried to the scene and immediately called 911. The woman had been trapped outside for more than 16 hours.

Teens Save Elderly Woman

The woman told the boys she had been lying there since 5 p.m. the evening before. She had apparently fallen while feeding her horse and, in a desperate attempt to be seen, had rolled from the backyard toward the front of her property.

"She was like scared. You could just tell because like her face, she was covered in all these bugs and stuff," Kohen said.

The boys believe they found her just in time. "A few more hours and she definitely like wouldn't have made it," Gunner said. The woman was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Muscatine, where she is receiving medical care.

But the story didn't end when the ambulance pulled away. While the woman recovers, Gunner's mom has stayed in touch with her family, making sure her horse has food and water. She's even planning to make a homemade lasagna to welcome her neighbor home.

Sometimes loving your neighbor looks like stopping your bike to ask a simple question. Sometimes it looks like calling 911. And sometimes it looks like feeding someone's horse and showing up with dinner after the crisis has passed. Because compassion isn't just found in the heroic moments. It's found in the quiet ones that follow.

One trail change, one incredible rescue after a woman is found three days trapped in mud. For Kathryn Woessner, 68, what began as an ordinary drive turned into three terrifying days trapped in mud near her van in rural Minnesota. After all the trail rides I’ve taken with my kids over the years, I can only imagine how alone and scared she felt. Those trails are hard to navigate through, and sometimes you don’t see anyone else for hours at a time.

Kathryn’s rescue came because two friends, Adam Sandbeck and Mark Gravalin of West Fargo, North Dakota, decided to do something they almost never do. Instead of taking separate UTVs along familiar trails, they rode together and explored a different path near Backus, Minnesota.

Friends Find Woman Stuck In Mud

"For some reason, we decided to go and try to find new trails," Adam said. "And for some reason, we went down that trail." That "some reason" led them to Kathryn. As they approached a muddy stretch of trail, they noticed what looked like a face in the water. Only Kathryn's face, one hand, and a kneecap were visible above the mud and she cried out for help!

In an instant, their afternoon ride became a rescue mission. The men pulled Kathryn from the mud and called 911. She told them she had been trapped there for three days after slipping into what Adam described as mud that behaved "like quicksand." Paramedics arrived within 15 minutes. Later, Adam reflected on everything that had to change for them to find her.

"I have never mapped that trail in my life ever," he said. "We changed everything how we do everything, for some reason. And it had to be God, it had to be."

Sometimes God's miracles don't arrive with parted seas or burning bushes. Sometimes they come on four wheels down a trail no one planned to take. Sometimes He redirects our ordinary plans so someone else's desperate prayer can be answered. Maybe the road you're taking today isn't a detour after all. It may just be the path God is using to answer someone else's prayer—or perhaps even your own.

"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps." Proverbs 16:9

When a family with six kids went on vacation on the Oregon coast, they only made it one full day before their van, with all their camping gear, 7 bikes, and a stroller, was stolen. But then a complete stranger gives the family a van out of compassion. The family was completely surprised and extremely grateful.

Stranger Gives Family Van After Theirs Was Stolen

The family’s eldest child is about to start college, and two of their daughters will soon go on a mission trip. This was meant to be their last trip while their family is still together. So the family was especially disappointed to have their trip interrupted like this. 

“They could see that there’s a car seat in there. We got all kids stuff. We got kids bikes back there,” the dad, Jarom Nelson, said. “Like, that’s just heartless, you know?”

The person who gave them a van is Randy Robinson, who owns a company that modifies vans called Advanced Four-Wheel Drive. He’s been in the business for half a decade. When he heard about the Nelsons, he decided to give them a spare van he had. 

‘Overwhelmed’ with Gratitude

“The one we want to give you is a four-wheel drive,” Robinson told the Nelsons when he gave them the news over the phone.

The van is a black Nissan NV 30, and will certainly fit the whole family and all of their things.

“I think we are just so overwhelmed. People are so good and kind,” said the mom, Cassidy Nelson.

“We’re just so grateful and just so blown away at the generosity of people,” said Jarom. “Our kids are just like, so overwhelmed … saying, ‘Oh man, there’s so many good people.’ It’s been really good to show that to our kids.” 

The family is overwhelmed by the huge gift. It’s no small thing to be given such an expensive vehicle, and Randy is truly incredibly generous. They will always remember this huge blessing to their family.

When a Massachusetts ice cream truck owner noticed a little boy wanted a sweet treat but could not pay, the ice cream shop offered him a scoop of kindness. They didn’t just give him a free scoop but told him he could always come back to the truck for ice cream. How sweet is that?

Ice Cream Shop Offers Kindness to Little Boy with ‘No Dollars’

When Madyson Silvagnoli, owner of Maddy’s Ice Cream and More, and her cousin, Mikenzy, were serving up ice cream to local kids, one small boy said he had “no dollars.” The little one walked away crying.

Maddy immediately asked her cousin to tell him to come back. 

“We don’t turn kids away when they don’t have money,” Maddy said. “You want an ice cream from Maddy, you get an ice cream from Maddy.”

After giving him a scoop with ice cream, whipped cream, and sprinkles, she told him he could always come back. 

Her Kindness Goes Viral and More Kids Get Free Ice Cream

Her video of the interaction went viral, and many people asked if they could donate to her business so more kids could get free ice cream. 

Now, each child who visits the truck this summer gets a free ice cream. Maddy continues to get donations from all over the world. 

“The world is getting so scary, and I have three daughters, and nieces and nephews and all that, and I want them to have a bright future,” she said. “I feel like, if I start something so small they can see my kindness, pay it forward, and it just spreads.”

How sweet is it that this shop owner made sure that the little boy wasn’t left out? Her kindness transformed into something enormous. Because she chose to help one kid, she gets to help hundreds of them this summer. No one in her town will get left out.

Four babies are a lot to bring into one family, but that’s what happened to this Texas clan. Two sisters each gave birth to sets of twin boys just hours apart. Rainy Jones's due date was two months later than her older sister Darian Lowe’s, so it came as a complete surprise. But the sisters couldn’t be happier that their boys have started out life so close.

Sisters Each Give Birth to Twin Boys Hours Apart

The boys’ births mark three generations of twins in their family. The sisters have two siblings who are twins, too.

“She found out she was pregnant, then I found out I was pregnant. She found out she was having twins, then I found out I was having twins,” Rainy said.

Darian gave birth on March 20. Rainy visited her and the babies in the hospital and then went home. She then had to go into an emergency delivery and was rushed to the hospital, where she gave birth just 13 hours after Darian on March 21. Had her boys been born just an hour earlier, then they would all share the same birthday. 

The Moms Never Dreamed This Would Happen

“We wanted kids around the same time, but we never thought that it would be thirteen hours,” Rainy said. “We didn’t even expect it to be a month apart.”

The sisters’ mother, Shannon Jackson, always wanted a big family, and she certainly got her wish. 

“I went from zero to four instantly,” Shannon said. “I used to dream for a big family cause I didn’t have much growing up, and wow. It’s huge that I can share this with my girls.”

An Exciting Future Ahead

Both of the sisters cannot wait to see the boys grow up together.

It’s just incredible that these sisters—who are four years apart and are not twins themselves—would both give birth to twin boys just hours apart. It’s also a blessing. They’ll both certainly be able to relate to their twin-parenting joys and struggles!

Everyone’s favorite teacher at St. Margaret School in Narberth, Pennsylvania, retires after 50 years, and it’s so bittersweet. The school held an entire event just for Miss Lopresti. They called it “Miss Lopresti” day, in honor of her last day as a full-time teacher at the school.

Teacher Retires After 50 Years

The day began with a flower crown on a statue of Mary, followed by a mass dedicated to Miss Lopresti. Next was a full auditorium full of students who performed original songs, skits, and poems from her, from pre-K to 8th grade.

Miss Lopresti wanted to be a teacher ever since she was in 2nd grade. But it wasn’t until she graduated from college that she learned how hard it was to be. Her first year, she struggled a lot and cried almost every day. She even quit. But then some other teachers helped her, and she learned to love it more than anything.

“The next year I loved it, and I’ve loved it ever since,” she explained.

She’s Always Made the Classroom and Students, Feel Special

“I never thought I’d make it this far,” she said. “...I love to make learning fun. I play games with them for math. I dress up as a character. Mrs. Pepperoni comes in with a pizza, and they play this math game.”

She got the royal treatment from a former student and firefighter, who gave her a goodbye send-off in a fire engine. As she rolled down the street, hundreds of kids and staff shouted goodbye as she waved through the window.

Teacher’s Legacy Won’t End Here

“It’s like a family here. It’s a community. I know everybody,” she said, adding, “I’ve taught children of children now. It’s just a great place to be.”

With no children of her own, Miss Lopresti doesn’t want to completely stay away from her home away from home. She will be back in a part-time capacity a couple of days a week.

It’s wonderful that hundreds—or even thousands—of children have gotten to learn from Miss Lopresti. It’s people like her that make a positive impact!

A retired Army soldier reunited with the military dog who once served by her side, and you don’t want to miss their reunion. Some heroes wear uniforms. Some wear fur. And sometimes the bravest homecoming has four paws, one wagging tail, and a heart that never forgot.

Rebecca Anderson always thought her job would somehow involve dogs. And when she met a spinning little Belgian Malinois puppy named Boss, it wasn't just the beginning of a partnership—it was the start of a friendship that would leave paw prints on her heart forever.

Army Soldier and Military Dog Served Together in Iraq

Together, they served as Army Military Police partners, training and deploying to Iraq. Through long days and dangerous moments, Boss wasn't just her K-9 partner. He was her shadow, her courage, and her faithful best friend. "It was a lot more comforting knowing that I was not going over there alone, that I did have Boss by my side, knowing that he was going to be there every step of the way," Rebecca said.

After seven and a half years together, duty called them down different paths, the kind that left Rebecca feeling like a piece of her was missing as she left the Army. And she couldn’t take Boss with her. “The last day that I saw him, it was very sad. I didn’t want to leave him. He was just too perfect of a dog,” she recalled. 

While she went home, Boss continued serving nearly 5,000 miles away. Leaving him behind wasn't just hard—it was rough. And this was one goodbye that tugged harder than any leash ever could.

Soldier Reunites With Military Dog After His Retirement

But love has a way of finding its way home. When Rebecca learned that Boss was going to retire, she fought tooth and nail to bring him home. Thanks to the American Humane Society, the decorated bomb-sniffing dog boarded one final flight—not toward another mission, but toward the forever family who had never stopped loving him.

Waiting for him were new toys, new bowls, and the kind of welcome every good boy deserves, with his best friend Rebecca, who was in tears, waiting for him to walk into the backyard. The moment Boss bounded into the backyard, six months apart disappeared in a single heartbeat. Rebecca wrapped her arms around him, covered him with kisses, and greeted him like the hero he has always been.

"He is just as handsome as I remember," she laughed.

A Heartwarming Reminder of Loyalty and Friendship

Maybe that's what dogs do best. That’s the best thing about dogs. No matter how much time has passed, they know you like no other. They remind us that loyalty and friendship isn't measured in years but in faithfulness and that the best friendships aren't always spoken—they're lived.

And perhaps that's why God so often teaches us about His own heart through creatures like Boss. Faithful. Steadfast. Always waiting at the door. Some heroes don't ask for medals. They're just happy to finally come home.

A Kindergarten teacher’s former preschool teacher works with her in the class. There was a time when women measured success a little differently. They didn't count followers or chase promotions. They quietly packed peanut butter sandwiches, wiped little noses, stitched Halloween costumes by hand, and somehow remembered every child's favorite color. They poured themselves into children who weren't even their own, never dreaming the seeds they planted would bloom decades later.

That's the kind of legacy 88-year-old Glenda Ousley has been leaving in Marlow, Oklahoma, for more than 50 years. Long before classroom tablets, Glenda opened the doors of her home preschool in 1974. For more than two decades, she welcomed little ones with the steady kind of love. Then, after joining Marlow Public Schools in 1997, she chose to become a teacher's assistant rather than lead her own classroom because being shoulder-to-shoulder with children was where her heart felt most at home.

Heather Has Taught Elementary School For 27 Years

It turns out that the little girl sitting in one of those preschool classrooms would one day become the teacher standing beside her. Heather Gage has taught elementary school in Marlow for 27 years. Ten years ago, life handed her one of those full-circle moments that only God could orchestrate when Glenda became the assistant in her kindergarten classroom.

"Mrs. Ousley had been in my life since I was born and had even been a positive influence on me as a young child, encouraging me toward a career in education," Heather said. "Having her as my assistant later in my teaching career was something I could never have imagined."

Some stories feel like they belong in a Hallmark movie. This one comes complete with construction paper, crayons, and probably a mysterious glob of glitter that's still hiding somewhere from 1998. Because let's be honest, glitter is the gift that keeps on giving.

Woman Works with Former Preschool Teacher

Heather says Glenda gives her room to lead while continuing to engage students in meaningful, hands-on ways. Their days are filled with themed dress-up events, visits from local high school football players who mentor the kindergarteners on game days, and plenty of laughter.

Apparently, 88 is also the perfect age to become a TikTok star. One of Heather's videos featuring Glenda recently reached 2.4 million views. Heather said, "In more recent years, she has even enjoyed making funny TikToks with students and staff, capturing the lighthearted spirit of our school."

Who says retirement has to include rocking chairs? Sometimes it includes viral videos and matching costumes. Somewhere, someone is probably trying to explain TikTok to their grandmother while Mrs. Ousley is already trending.

But what makes their friendship so beautiful isn't what happens online. It's everything that happens after the school bell rings because the two attend local sporting events together, cheering on the hometown teams. It’s a friendship that stretches far beyond the classroom walls.

"Mrs. Ousley often says she sees me as a bonus daughter, and I truly see her as a mentor, partner, and someone I care deeply about," Heather said. "She has been part of my life since the day I was born, and that connection has grown into a friendship built on respect, trust, and shared purpose."

The Greatest Investments Are Never the Loudest Ones

Women like Mrs. Ousley remind us that the greatest investments are almost never the loudest ones. They are the quiet mornings that begin before sunrise. The faithful showing up. The patient repetition of tying shoes, sounding out words, drying tears, and believing in children before they believe in themselves.

"Even at 88 years old, she remains a full-time employee and is frequently the first one at school each morning," Heather said. "Her dedication is steady and unwavering, and her presence is felt in every corner of our classroom."

Maybe that's how women did it back then. They didn't worry about building platforms. They built people.They quietly changed generations one child at a time and Heather couldn't think of a better way to describe the woman who first taught her.

"Mrs. Ousley is the GOAT—the greatest of all time," she said. "Her influence spans generations of children, families, and educators in our community. She represents a kind of dedication that cannot be taught: a lifelong calling to serve children with joy, patience, and love."

Sometimes the greatest reward for a faithful teacher isn't found in a plaque or retirement party. Sometimes it's standing beside the little girl you once taught, watching her pour that same love into the next generation.

A young girl starts fundraising for her friend once she realizes she needs a little bit of help to play. 7-year-old Aspen’s best friend, Juniper, uses a wheelchair and can’t swing on the monkey bars with her. When Aspen realized her school playground didn’t have any accessible equipment that Juni could play on, she started decorating popsicle sticks to sell.

Young Girl Starts Fundraising for Her Friend So They Can Play Together

Aspen and Juni have been best friends ever since they were paired in music class together when they were both 6. Both of their moms were excited that they had each made a friend. 

"Even though she looks different, she has the same needs and wants as any other kid," said Juniper’s mom, Hailey.

Their school is one of the only two in the state to have National Banner Unified Champion School status, where children with special needs attend some classes with other students rather than staying in a single classroom with other special-needs kids. But when it’s time for recess, some kids can’t play. 

These children shouldn’t have to watch from the sidelines while their peers have fun without them.  

They Have a Long Way to Go Until They Get Their Playground

So far, Aspen has raised $38.05 for a playground from her popsicle stick sales. The Parent Teacher Club at their school in Salem, Oregon, is also raising funds. The cost will be between $300,000 and $400,000. The community has already raised $25,000 before the fundraiser started, and over $10,000 through GoFundMe. 

When Aspen delivered her popsicle-stick money to Juniper’s mom, she also gave her a handwritten note, hoping that Juniper could play on the playground with her soon. 

“That’s all Aspen wants. She just wants to play on the playground with her best friend, and that’s  a huge ask right now,” Aspen’s mom said. 

Kindness Can Make a Change

The PTA hopes to have the playground fully funded by April of 2027.

Little Aspen hopes her story inspires others to be kind.

It’s wonderful that Juniper and Aspen have an amazing friendship like this. Aspen wants Junie to feel included, and Junie just wants to play. Hopefully, they can raise enough money to make this dream come true.
