Eight Years After a Special Delivery, Nurse and Child Share Beautiful Reunion

Eight years ago at a hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana, an elderly man passed away. At that very moment, a lullaby played, signaling the birth of a baby. This heartwarming nurse story will give you the best feeling as you learn about a special connection that a death and a birth created between two families. 

This Heartwarming Nurse Story Starts with a Lullaby

When Jamie Fontinau, the daughter of the veteran who passed away, heard the lullaby, she believed that the baby must be her father’s angel. So she wrote him a letter.

“To my dad’s angel,” it read. “Even though I will never know your name, you are the first child born here after my dad’s passing. When one life is taken, another is given –so you are the angel that I will relate with my dad...” 

She asked a nurse on duty to give the letter to the mom who delivered the baby. 

CBS News host David Begnaud’s mom, Sydney Begnaud, was the labor-and-delivery nurse who helped deliver the baby. Jamie’s dad’s name was James. The new baby’s mom, Connie Hall, and her husband named their baby Kingston, but they hadn’t picked a middle name. When they got the letter, they decided to make his middle name James, “of course.” 

Eight Years Later, They Share a Beautiful Reunion

When Sydney told David about what happened, he coordinated the story and set up the meeting between the families. They’ve been close ever since. Now, Kingston got to meet Sydney as an eight-year-old, and he, his mom, Sydney, and Jamie got to attend Mass together. 

“Miss Jamie” thinks of Kingston like another of her grandchildren. When Kingston was asked what he thinks of her, he said, “Awesome.” 

It’s such a beautiful story that could have just ended with that letter, but thank God that these people have this wonderful relationship because of it.
