The Color of Hate
I found this tape last night and watched it this morning. It was an MLK Day and Black History Concert celebration held at the MCO I found this tape last night and watched it this morning. It was an MLK Day and Black History Concert celebration held at the MCO Hilton in Toledo, presented by Rhema Word Christian fellowship. They have since moved into their own building, and I'm very happy for them.
This was supposed to be a choreographed group piece, but ended up being a totally improvised solo. The only thing that was planned was that I'd use the instrumental intro to change from tights & socks to sweats & cross-trainers, and that the style of improv would get a little funkier, thereafter.

If you want to skip past my intro and rambling testimony (I'd had no sleep, for reasons explained therein.), you can jump right to the dancing, which starts at 4:55. If you care to listen, however, I touch on racism within the Black community and my thoughts on the titles of MLK Jr. Don't read too much into my last pic of the KKK; I just needed another pic, and my other MLK pix were of too low a resolution. I know there are racists in every race, against other races and their own. The full uncut version of the song gives an example of Black on "Other"(?White?) racism.

I'd done a Christian piece earlier in the concert, and wanted to challenge the audience here, to--as stated in the song lyrics--"wonder why your preachy neighborhood isn't so peaceful".

I hope you will forgive me for not editing out the props my Wonderful & Beautiful Sister-In-Christ, Tricia gave me at the end. My confidence is faltering these days, so to hear and remember that I once "had it" gives me hope that I may one day be able to get it back. (^_^) Go, Peri Urban!
