In addition to meditating in the Word and reviving your prayer life, one of the most powerful and significant things you can do to experience fulfillment in God, to change your spiritual and emotional atmosphere and overcome in life is to give your praise to God.

(Isa. 61:3 NKJV) 3To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”

One of the blessings that Jesus came to bestow upon us is “the Garment of Praise”. When you begin to cover your life with praises to God, like you would cover yourself with a garment, He literally inhabits that praise, He fills you with His presence, and the spirit of heaviness is driven away from you.

What is the spirit of heaviness?

First of all, the Hebrew word translated “heaviness” means to be feeble or weak. It also means burdened. It would include depression.

Second, it is a spirit. That’s right. An evil spirit sent from the devil to weigh you down.

That spirit cannot stay in an atmosphere of praise. Depression cannot stay in an atmosphere of praise.

So today’s call to action is to put on your garment of praise. Sing to the Lord. Be thankful to the Lord. Don’t complain, that only makes things worse. Be thankful. Give your praise to God and you will be delivered.
