Submission in Marriage: Word Use in Greek

Submission in Marriage: Word Use in Greek

People who want feminism in the Church are unwilling to admit that they’re just following their own desires, rather than following God. That’s why they have to give you oddball readings of Scripture, and understand it in ways no ordinary person would ever read a text.

Here I want to go over the common meanings of submit in Greek [hypotasso] in the New Testament, just to show that it means what the ordinary reader thinks it means. I also look at obey [hypakouo] which appears in 1 Peter 3, when -- Sarah “obeyed” Abraham -- is a model for the Christian wife. Almost every translation will use the word obey, as that is what it ordinarily means.
