40 Day Fast!! Day 22~3/24/09 Pastor Tom Lawson (1)
Happy Birthday Dad!
Today's life Journal schedule has us reading 1 Corinthians 9. I love that chapter; not only because it talks about paying your pastor in the first half either.
The part that caught my attention is starting at verse 24.
24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.
25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.
26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air.
27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
This is what I was liking. We run with certainty (26). There is an intentionality that Paul is declaring. We are being intentional. We are writing our prayer requests down, praying for them each night and fasting. We are not shadow boxing. We are in a spiritual battle.
"I discipline my body and bring it into subjection." I know that it is hard fasting. I know that you have had thoughts of giving up. But you are doing great and are telling your body no. You are putting your flesh in subjection to your spirit.
You are doing awesome. I'm proud of you.
May the Power of the Holy Spirit Rest On You,
Pastor Tom

Today's Devotional
A Prayer of Comfort for Families Missing Their Fallen Military Heroes - Your Daily Prayer - May 27
Because the general public views them as fallen heroes deserving of patriotic honor, many may mistakenly think that this somehow helps to soften the blow of the loss to their family members. But for many families, it can be extremely difficult to accept and process, especially because their passing is without warning, unexpected, and with no opportunity to say goodbye.
