Volunteer Who Has Undergone More Than 75 Surgeries Gets Special Recognition

Keygan is a 19-year-old living in Idaho and has an amazing heart for his community. However, his life is filled with many challenges.

In this video, Nate from East Idaho News starts to tell us a little bit about Keygan. He is one of 12 children, all of whom were adopted, and has what is called Nager Syndrome. This is where he has deformed arms, hands, feet, and facial deformities. He has also had to endure over 75 surgeries.

Even though he has been through so much he gives back by crocheting blankets and hats for his community. He has been crocheting for nine years now and taught himself to do so online. Very impressive!

In addition to crocheting, he also volunteers at several places around his community such as the family history center, the food pantry, and the hospital.

Nate goes on to say, “He has been through a lot but he gives and gives and gives. And today we want to give back to him.” He then goes to Keygan’s house however he isn’t home and has to come back a few hours later. Keygan was out in the community helping others.

Once he does get home, Nate meets him in the parking lot and asks him a little bit about the crocheting. He then gives Keygan the gift cards, which are from Amazon, and his favorite restaurants Olive Garden or Longhorn.

After Keygan gets the gift cards he says “Thank you so much” several times. He is very excited and thankful that he received the gifts.

The news received an email for the segment, “Feel Good Friday” in which they talked about Keygan and how he would be the right person to receive the gift because of how much he gives to his community.
