Only Believe

Only Believe

"Be not afraid, Only believe." Mark 5:36. Sometimes called the world's shortest sermon, Jesus is not simply demanding blind trust here. I don't feel like He's asking us to believe that our wish will come true, nor is He saying that we should believe in ourselves, as the world tells us. I think that this is actually a statement of assurance. He is saying, "believe in ME." In other words, "Trust me." He's not simply giving a command, He's making a PROMISE. This song came to me as I prayed for those who are experiencing hardships, doubt, and fear. Some are worried about the health of family or friends, some have lost loved ones. We were also struggling with trying to accept that God's timing is not our timing. We needed to let go of our plan in order to allow God to work in our lives. What an amazing thing it is to be able to strip away distractions and, knowing that God loves us, is trustworthy, and is ultimately in control, have the focus and clarity of mind to "only believe."
