Vivaldi's Concerto in D-major for Lute and Strings was composed in 1720.
By June of 1965, the Ecuadorian composer/arranger Carlos Bonilla- Chavez had
introduced his own interpretation of this concerto for guitar and choir.
Vocal parts for: Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass are sung syllabically to replicate each of the
string parts. While the classical guitar doubles as a lute. Under the artistry of Maestra Allison Askeland, the Columbia Choral Ensemble and classical guitarist Fabián Carrera, May the 31st 2008 marked the American debut of this piece at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Longview, Washington.
