Is there anything significant to the name of Jesus? Couldn't he just as well have been named Tom, Mohammed, or David? According the the gospels, the name of "Jesus" was specifically given to the child by the angel Gabriel, because the name had much to tell us about what the life of Jesus was all about. You do not understand who Jesus was or what he came to do if you do not accept his name. Watch as Pastor MacLaren explains the meaning of the Larger Catechism's question #41.
