Herd Of Elephants Drink Water From A Swimming Pool

Watch an entire herd of elephants drink water from a swimming pool because believe it or not, you most likely haven’t seen it before!

Most of us have probably seen some elephants at a zoo or safari tour. A smaller number of us have seen elephants drink water. If you asked me how they drink, I would probably just say through their trunks.

That’s only partially true! These unique creatures suck water up into their trunks and then put the end of their trunks into their mouths to let the water out. It might only be me that’s learning this, but I bet nobody has given too much thought about elephants drinking.

Good thing these guys came across the swimming pool! Adult elephants need over 20 gallons of water every day and can drink up to 40 gallons! And guess how many gallons fit in those convenient trunks.

Obviously, depending on its size, an elephant can hold anywhere from a quarter gallon to over two gallons of water in its trunk. That’s a lot of trunk-fulls of water they need!

You may be asking, where does something like this happen? In South Africa, tons of safari lodges have rooms where wildlife could come a little closer than you’d expect!

A local couple took advantage of low rental prices for safari lodges when the 2020 pandemic put traveling on pause. They chose a rental with a private pool, but It turned out that it wasn’t so private after all!

They got an up-close and personal view of elephants in the ‘wild’ drinking water straight from their patio. The sad part? Those little babies can’t reach! Hopefully, the adult elephants helped them out.

What a special vacation. Thankfully, we got to share the silly experience with them since they took a video. God created such beautiful and magnificent creatures!

And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. Genesis 1:30
