His Coworker Has Cancer, So This Barber Is Shaving His Own Head In Support

His coworker has cancer, so this barber is shaving his own head in support, and I’m crying.

No matter how big or small, simple gestures can go a long way. This barber’s gesture let his coworker know that he wasn’t alone in his fight against cancer.

In the short video, you see the barber, Joel Ortega González, finishing up the buzzcut on Neftali Martín, the other barber that was diagnosed with cancer. Neftali decided to get rid of the rest of his hair once he started losing hair from chemotherapy, and he was clearly distraught sitting in the barber’s chair.

Joel stepped up to the plate to cut Neftali’s hair and recorded the moment. Little did Neftali know, Joel was planning on cutting his own hair.

Joel took the clippers right off of Neftali’s head to his own and began haphazardly having his styled ‘do. Neftali didn’t seem to realize what was happening at first because he just stared into the mirror.

Once he realized his eyes weren’t tricking him, Neftali put his face in his hands and started crying. Joel finished buzzing his own hair off with one hand and put the other on his coworker’s back for comfort.

Neftali still had that stoic look on his face while his coworker used a hairdryer to clean him up. By the end of the clip, Neftali cracked a smile and likely thanked Joel for his heartwarming gesture.

Some people place importance on their appearances, including their hair. Regardless of Joel’s attachment to his hair, he took that step out of solidarity for his brother. Because at the end of the day, we are all God’s children and look the same to Him. The Lord would much rather we reach out to our brothers and sisters that are suffering than maintain a certain look.

We are praying for Neftali and his friends and family. May God give you the strength to persevere.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16
