'Nearer, My God, To Thee' Classic Hymn Performance

In this beautiful performance, Anna Richey sings the classic hymn ‘Nearer, My God, To Thee.’

“Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee! E’en though it be a cross that raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee. Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!

Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down, Darkness be over me, my rest a stone;
Yet in my dreams I’d be nearer, my God, to Thee. There let the way appear, steps unto Heav’n;

All that Thou sendest me, in mercy giv’n; Angels to beckon me nearer, my God, to Thee.”

Anna has such a beautiful voice and is a very talented piano player. On her YouTube page, she shares about how she suffers from anxiety but always feels a sense of calm when she seeks the Lord through prayer.

“I've struggled with anxiety for as long as I can remember,” Anna shares. “I would be sitting in my room, talking to my mom, or even doing something as simple as going up to answer the front door when all of the sudden I would burst into tears and go into panic mode. If I was ever late for class, I just wouldn't go at all. The thought of walking into class late in front of all my classmates freaked me out.”

But it is Anna’s faith that gets her through her anxious feelings. “During all my times of distress, my mother taught me to drop to my knees and pray. Pray, pray, pray. That was the only thing that could calm me down,” she explains. “In those dark and dreary moments, I felt a sense of security and love from our Savior Jesus Christ and our loving Father in Heaven. Even though anxiety still haunts me, a loving Savior holds my hand and helps me through every single time. I feel nearer to God during those countless struggles and countless prayers.”

May Anna keep using her voice to glorify God and lean on Him when she feels weak. He is our firm foundation and our ever-present help in times of trouble.
