What Is Tim Tebow Doing Now?

Tim Tebow is still the talk of the town. Time passes, talk dies down, but then it always seems to come back somehow. For a select few, Tim Tebow is someone they follow with a cultish fervor; they follow him on Twitter, Facebook, and constantly look into what he’s doing now. By this time, everyone knows the Tim Tebow story; great collegiate football player and Heisman winner, drafted by the Broncos and eventually given a chance to shine by helping them go to the playoffs, and then his subsequent move as a backup in the New York Jets system—which ended miserably. He was, for all its worth, the most famous backup quarterback (perhaps ever), and now that he is out of the NFL he is the most famous NFL free agent available. So, just what is Tim Tebow doing now?

Is it Tebow Time?

I firmly believe that, even if you don’t like Tim Tebow, you at least have to respect him. It’s true; he has innumerable flaws at the Quarterback position. He is wildly inaccurate, has difficulty throwing properly, and often gets himself into trouble as a result. Despite all this, he was still able to win games and, apparently, get support from his teammates. He is a winner, but he is also a leader. Unfortunately for Tebow, nobody has seemed interested in having him as their Quarterback—even in the backup position.

Well, where is it Tebow time?

Currently, Tim Tebow is a college football analyst for ESPN. He covers the SEC, which is a perfect fit for him since he thrived with the Florida Gators during his college career. In other words, he is a highly recognizable face among SEC fans. Although he is fairly new to the job, he has made quite a splash after coming on, often being praised for his objective analysis. His work ethic on the field has obviously transferred to his new role at ESPN. In fact, he has started fielding offers to do other radio shows and analysis jobs across the nation. Because of his good looks, calm demeanor, intense integrity, and ability to speak coherently, he makes sense as a football analyst. Should time pass without receiving another shot in the NFL, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Tebow doing some shows covering the NFL. For now, however, Tebow still has high hopes.

Will he return to the NFL?

Ultimately, whenever people ask about Tim Tebow they want to know if he will ever play football in the NFL again. It’s a tricky question and not easily answered. However, I think it’s fair to say it’s a possibility. When you consider what he was able to do with the Denver Broncos, it’s clear that he has a strong work ethic and desire to win at all costs. He can lead a team to victory, albeit often sloppily. This alone might, at the very least, get him into the discussion. However, given the fact that countless teams have had real needs for Quarterbacks and haven’t looked Tebow’s way, the chances seem to be dwindling. Ultimately, it appears that Tebow will only be given a shot under the right system. Although many Tebow-lovers claim he should at least be a backup, it must be realized that, given his poor accuracy and throwing mechanics, he’s not a very good insurance policy should a first string QB get injured. Yes, he can be trained and work at improving, but all of that takes time. And, it’s kind of hard to justify spending so much time and energy at building a backup from the ground up. If Tebow wants to return to the NFL, he will have to continue training hard and improving his throwing mechanics. From there, it’s possible a team in need could give him a call, or that he can find a way at proving himself as a walk-on. Whatever the case may be, it will be a long and difficult process of returning to the NFL for Tim Tebow. But remember, Tebow seems to thrive under pressure and adversity.

Conclusion

Tebow may never play another down in the NF,L and in many ways it hurts the league tremendously. Whether you like Tim Tebow or not, you must admit he is a much better role model than the countless other players around. Given that the NFL seems to be imploding within due to personal conduct issues (Ray Rice, Josh Gordon, Adrian Peterson, etc.), a person like Tim Tebow could be a breath of fresh air. Does he have a lot to prove? Certainly! But the NFL should be rooting for Tebow to return, providing them with a perfect role model as the face of the league.
