To The Person Who Ran Over My Dog
Many people use the popular online classifieds site, Craigslist, to buy and sell items. But the site is also used as an online forum where you can find posts that start with "To the person who..." These posts usually range from the hilarious to the ridiculous. But every now and then you get one that really hits you in the heart. And a recent post really shocked me. It started with "To the person who ran over my dog." Sounds bad, right? So, I grabbed my tissues and got ready. But come to find out, the post was not what I was expecting at all! Read on to hear the letter. . .Credit: Craigslist I just wanted to say that he is okay! Saturday Nov. 14 around 11am in Sun Prairie: My dog, a medium-sized tan lab mix, darted out of the house and into the street in front of your car at the wrong moment. [rsnippet id="3" name="Article-Ad"] Thank you for stopping to see if we needed help instead of driving away. It has been bothering me that I had no way to contact you and tell you that he made it. My neighbors were shocked he survived with how ugly it looked, but he is too stubborn to die and he has more lives than a cat. He is alive and fully recovered! Hopefully you know that its not your fault my dog is not smart enough to stay out of traffic. Have a good day!
First of all, it was great to hear the happy ending of a furry friend who made it and is doing well! But what's also special is the author's kind words for the driver. It must have been heart wrenching for the dog's owner to see their fur baby get hurt. It could have easily drummed up anger and resentment. But instead, this kind soul took a step back from the emotional and traumatic event to put themselves in the shoes of the driver. They took the time to understand just how terrifying the event must have been for them, as well, especially considering the driver did not have the relief of knowing that everything turned out ok. The owner's efforts to notify the driver of the happy ending is a great example of kindness and empathy! [rsnippet id="2" name="ArticleAd-300x250-3"] In an update posted by the owner, they are still trying to make sure the word gets out to the driver. But, as a result of the post, they've also been flooded with messages of kind words and support, which we think is pretty awesome!
